The Fight Against Child Abuse: A Tribute To The Late Nurin Jazlin (1999 to 2007)

This post is from NAFASG
In our times of darkness, children are the ones who will brighten us up. No matter what ordeals we have to endure in our daily lives, we know that we can overcome them the moment we set eyes on children. Their innocence and purity in them will always give us a sense of peacefulness and calm that is beyond words. And it goes without saying that life would be meaningless without seeing them smile, hearing them laugh and cry, and feeling their small and flawlessly gentle hands that want to reach out to us.Yet, there are some who show no empathy and sensitivity towards these beautiful souls. Worse still, they would dunk themselves into physical violence and cruelty towards the children without even thinking twice. Such acts can deem someone to be worse than an animal, because even an animal has compassion and love for its young.
What is going on with this world? Why must such horrid acts be carried out? Why do these people ever exist in this world?

Please take this time to read this special message from us, and show your utmost support and sympathy towards the family of the late Nurin Jazlin, who passed away tragically and brutally at the age of only eight. Little Nurin Jazlin’s body was discovered in a gym bag on 17th September, one month after she was abducted. Upon the discovery, she was seen to be in the most horrifying state ever. Her hair was short and curled up, when it was originally straight and long. Her body was pale and badly bruised from head to toe, and there were traces of foreign objects like brinjal and cucumber found in the virginal area of her body.

Parents of the deceased took a long time to acknowledge her death, but eventually did after all the thorough DNA tests had been carried out by the forensics department. Her body was finally buried on 21st September. Her father, Jazimin Abdul Jalil, had expressed his sorrow towards this tragedy, stating that whoever who caused her death was not a human being, but rather, an animal.

This was the result of an outrage of modesty (See Picture On The Right) caused by a man of age between 35 and 40, who was thought to be someone who enjoyed torturing people, particularly children. Along with him was a 23-year-old lady, who was apparently his partner in crime. The lady had been found and called for questioning by the Malaysian authorities, whereas the man has yet to be found. Hence, we are urging all of you here to play your part in finding this serial killer cum sexual offender and ensuring that justice is served to the deceased and her family.

If you know of the culprits’ whereabouts, keep us informed immediately, or directly inform her uncle, Jasni Abdul Jalil, via his blog, which he had specially created as a form of dedication to her.

Over the years, we have heard of children’s lives being taken away due to the evil doings of heartless adults. Nurin’s death was one of the most gruesome and tragic deaths that made many of us shocked, despaired and furious. Do you want more children to die in the hands of these sadistic people? Do you still wish to hear such saddening news of child abuse? Then let us do our part right away! Together we can make this world a better place for the little ones. Let us all join hand in hand and put a stop to such cruelty towards them once and for all! Don't wait till tomorrow,Do it now!

Got this interesting article from a friend. Have a nice read.

Everyone knows that life is already unmercifully short; here today, gone tomorrow is a fact of life sooner or later, it is a reality that each of us must face.

How and where we spend our time should be a matter of serious urgency because tomorrow is a day that never comes. And there is no guarantee that you will live to see another tomorrow.

Tomorrow is a day that all of us should live in and enjoy this very moment. We should strive to enjoy this day. And this day should be considered the greatest day of your life. You were taught, early on, not to put off until tomorrow what can and should be done today.

This means dreams must be lived in the now; truth must be told today, love, sharing, caring and serving must be done today. Unattended obligations must be completed today and forgiveness must begin this very moment. Both justice and friendship must be implemented and maintained right now, not tomorrow or next month.
It is foolish and very unwise to wait for the right moment or the right opportunity before you take action to embrace the totality of life. Consider every moment to be the right moment and also the right opportunity. Time is the one constant in all life; it never slows or speeds up but is continuous and unrelenting.

Presidents, potentates, kings and queens, and all manner of high-ranking movers and shakers may die, come and go, but time is no respecter of person, title or position. All of us have equal access to the same amount of time. Rich people have no more or less time than people who are not rich. Somehow, they seem to make better use of their time.

For sure, they are both times conscious as well as value-conscious. You dont get rich or achieve outstanding success by misusing time. Most successful people do things that add to, not take away from their success. They value their time, and also the time of other time-conscious individuals.

With time being a decisive factor in all life, there is no room for plea-bargaining; all excuses, reasonable or unreasonable, are unacceptable. With or without you, time marches on, which is why you must get busy maximizing every available moment. A do-it-now attitude must be reflected in your spirit, in your actions as well as in your deeds. A can't wait; do-it-now mentality must become the new order of the day.

It’s good to have friends.

Since my return I’ve been bombarded with all sorts of mail, some of which are extremely funny and some just too hilarious for words. I guess my friend who’s been sending me jokes after jokes just want me to forget the gloom of the past weeks. Thanks for this friend, I had quite a laugh.
Hope you all enjoy it also.

Home For The Holidays!
An elderly man in Phoenix calls his son in New York and says,
"I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough."

"Pop, what are you talking about?" the son screams.

"We can't stand the sight of each other any longer," the old man says.
"We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this,
so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her," and he hangs up.

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone.
"Like hell they're getting divorced," she shouts, "I'll take
care of this." She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at
the old man, "You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single
thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back,
and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a
thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?" and hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone, too, and turns to his wife.
"Okay," he says, "they're coming for Thanksgiving. Now what
do we tell them for Christmas?"

Last Confession
Jake was on his deathbed. His wife, Susan, was maintaining a vigil by
his side. As she held his fragile hand, tears ran down her face. Her praying
roused him from his slumber. He looked up and his pale lips began to move
slightly.
"My darling Susan," he whispered. "Hush, my love," she said.

"Rest. Shhh. Don't talk." He was insistent.

"Susan," he said in his tired voice. "I have something I must confess to you."

"There's nothing to confess," replied the weeping Susan. "Everything's all right, go to sleep."

"No, no. I must die in peace, Susan. I slept with your sister, your best friend, and your mother."

"I know," she replied. "That's why I poisoned you."

Let's have some laughter.

Can’t help but try to lighten the mood of this blog a bit. Everyone needs a good laugh once in a while.

Here’s the story of three men who died and went to heaven. At heavens orientation ceremony, each of them were asked,
When you were in your casket and friends and family were mourning you, what would you have loved to hear them say about you?
The first man said, "I would have loved to hear them say that I was a great doctor of my time, and a great family man."
The second guy says, "I would have loved to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher which made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow."
The last guy replies, " would have loved to hear them say... LOOK, HE'S MOVING!!!!!"

A young vicar, who was so nervous at his first mass that he could hardly speak, asked a senior vicar’s advice on how he could relax. The senior vicar told him: "Next week it may help if you put some Vodka in the water pitcher. After a few sips everything should go smoothly." The following Sunday the new vicar put the suggestion into practice and was able to talk up a storm and did just great. Upon returning to the rectory, he found the following message on a note from the senior vicar:

  • Next time, sip rather than gulp.
  • There are 10 commandments, not 12.
  • There are 12 disciples not 10.
  • David slew Goliath; he did not kick his ass.
  • WE do not refer to our savior Jesus Christ and his apostles as "J.C. and the boys."
  • Next week there is a taffy-pulling contest at St. Peters, not a peter pulling contest at St. Taffy's.
  • We do not refer to the cross as the "The Big T."
  • The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are not referred to as "Big Daddy, Junior, and the Spook."
  • The recommended Grace before meals is not "Rub-A-Dub, thanks for the grub, Yo God!"
  • Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.
  • Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass.
  • When David was hit by a rock and knocked off his donkey, don't say he was stoned off his ass.
  • When Jesus broke the bread at the Last Supper he said, "Take this and eat it, for it is my body", he did not say, "Eat me."

Hope you got a good laugh!

Talking Reality? Talk about death.

Death is one word that when some people hear it they shrink, some have nasty shivers running up their spine, some just believe it will come when it will come. In African, Nigeria to be precise, it is a believe that the ember months comes with series of unpalatable happenings and when death of loved ones occurred during this period, people easily attribute it to the said SeptEMBER, octoBER, novEMBER, decEMBER.
I quite disagree with this believe, death is a reality that people have to face, regardless of where, when and how it occurs. Dying itself is not a problem, but what happens to people after death? Where do they go? What do they do? What sort of life exists after death? Lots of questions though, but believe me, they are very necessary as death does not give warning signals, it does not give you time to prepare, it does not give you time to put your house in order or write a will, it catches you at whatever you are doing and before the person knows what, he/she is on the other side, it comes just like a thief in the night.
On the other side, I don’t want to start an argument here, everyone to their own believe, and according to the word of God written in the book of life, the bible, it has been appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (Heb 9:27). Surely everyone will die, though at different times and in different circumstances, but then,

where is your other side?
Where will you like to go after death?
What preparations are you making towards death?
Will you be happy when death knocks on your door or be afraid of the unknown?
I don’t have a general answer to all this questions, but I am confident in the words of Rom 8:1- there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. And, Rom 14:7 - For none of us liveth to himself, and no man died to himself. For whether I live, I live unto the Lord; and whether I die, I die unto the Lord: whether I live therefore, or die, I am the Lord's.
I lost two good friends recently, a man and a woman, the man’s aged father also died suddenly as a result of the shock of losing his only son. We are seriously praying for the aged mother of the deceased, please, join us to pray for her also. They were both too young to die.
